KING OF VEGGIE
Recreating the flavours of Indian street food in GTA, albeit with a modern twist
Scope
Chef Hetal is the owner of King of Veggie, the only vegetarian restaurant of its kind in the Van Kirk Dr neighbourhood of Brampton. She missed the taste of authentic Indian street food, especially the Chowpatty (beachside) food in GTA. That’s how she came up with the idea of a modern Indian street food restaurant.
Along with serving delicious food, the aim was also to create a delightful and comfortable space for all – from family gatherings, and birthdays to wedding parties as well as business meetings.
Interior Design Concept
Because the client was a chef herself, the restaurant had to reflect her personal touch in the design and decor. Hetal got in touch with Design TWG, a top restaurant design firm in GTA. They had thorough discussions about the requirements, her expectations and the services they have to offer.
After detailed research, they came up with the concept for the restaurant – a blend of modern interior design with western Indian crafts. They created the interior views before implementing the final design in the space.
Design TWG is diligent with site visits. Throughout the project, they monitored how the space was turning out to be with the contractors.
The modern accents of furniture with the bold and traditional colour palette of the space bring out the vibrancy of the space. The final look of the 40-seater restaurant is a classic example of modern Indian interior design.
Elements of Design
- Use of Gujarati craft in the restaurant interior.
- A mix of earthy and bold colour palette is used to accentuate the modern Indian look and feel of the interiors.
- Exposed material finishes and wooden interior design elements add to the modern feel of this restaurant.
- A cohesive blend of visual branding with the interior design
King of Veggie is the only vegetarian restaurant in this vicinity which is surrounded by lush green and residential spaces. This gives the restaurant an edge over other restaurants which are not purely vegetarian.
