What We Did

Interior Design, Space Planning

Holiday Inn Express Barrie combines countryside charm with modern functionality. Design TWG refurbished all public areas, guest rooms, and exteriors, blending IHG brand standards with warm taupe tones, vibrant accents, and contemporary finishes to create a welcoming space for both leisure and business travellers.

SCOPE

Corporate IHG mandated a refurbishment of all public areas as well as the 67 guest rooms and suites of this uniquely placed hotel in the town of Barrie, ON. The brief given to Design TWG included refurbishing the entire interior space and the exterior.

CONCEPT

  • The Holiday Inn Express in Barrie is in a well-loved location in the rugged countryside around the lake. It’s also a busy location all year round. It caters to a mixed clientele – leisure as well as business travellers. This meant Design TWG had to take into account the formal setting of the space. It couldn’t just look like a luxurious vacation spot. It had to cater to the highly functional needs of working professionals travelling through for meetings.
  • The design attempts to bring a contemporary design twist to the laid-back, lake-side Barrie. Design TWG incorporated stringent IHG Brand Standards for full property renovation including exterior finishes, and custom FF&E.
  • Warm taupe and brown tones in the interior design offset by splashes of vibrant colours created an inviting space. Furniture and fixtures play an important role in the overall look & feel of the space. Dark wood was used for the accent furniture pieces which blended seamlessly against the neutral colour palette of the entire place, giving it a contemporary look & feel.
  • The splashes of vibrant orange amidst warm taupe and brown tones make an inviting space.

ELEMENTS OF DESIGN

  • The rooms are spacious and designed as per the brief of IGH Brand Standards.
  • Warm Lighting is used for the rooms
  • Vibrant shades of orange are used against a neutral colour palette
  • The breakfast room has carpeted flooring to bring out the pop of colour to complement neutral tones.
