SCOPE:

Daal Roti is an authentic Indian cuisine restaurant located in Mississauga. It is a venture of Chef Hitesh Rana, a self-made entrepreneur from Mumbai, India. The design team at TWG, a top hospitality interior design firm in GTA, Canada was mandated to produce the restaurant interior design, the material palette as well as visual branding and logo in conjunction with its theme – delicate Indian interior design for the restaurant with a textured palette and warm colours.

Elements of Design:

  • The space is well-lit and connected at the eye level, making it accessible for all users: mall-users or destination customers.
  • Existing space was used to accommodate this restaurant at minimal intervention.
  • A buffet area with feature lighting and street cart was introduced to generate interest in Indian street cuisine.

FEATURES:

  • Curved ceiling element connects the otherwise scattered seating spaces
  • A neutral palette with taupes and browns is used to maintain harmony
  • Artwork by local modern Indian artists adds to the Indian interior design of this restaurant and gives it a cultural identity.
